A unique voice on the Hammond Organ from Iceland

Growing up with a in a small Icelandic village with a fascination with jazz music, Sara has always been drawn to exploring new horizons. From striking out on her own as a teenager in Reykjavík to landing in the bustling energy of New York city, she has found home in various places, and her path led her to finding the soulful sound of the Hammond organ.

Sara’s other passion is big band composing and arranging. Sara got a MM in Jazz Composition and Arranging from William Paterson University, which brought about the opportunity to arrange a piece for jazz legend Joe Lovano. Her work has been recognized with multiple grants, and she has collaborated with professional big bands in both the United States and Iceland.
